Emily Costello, D

Emily opened X in 2016 with a mission to cultivate an environment of creativity, collaboration, and the elevation of craft hairdressing.

Even with over with years in the industry, their passion for hair continues to flourish. As a haircutting specialist, they believe that truly understanding a client’s individuality and lifestyle determines which haircut will empower them the most.

They have spent the last several years traveling the country sharing haircutting education with other stylists. Emily believes that learning never stops and shortly after opening X, launched their formal education brand, EDU X. EDU X provides a platform to encourage growth in hairstylists at any point on their journeys.

Outside of X, you can find Emily drinking an Americano at one of their favorite coffee shops. As a true introverted Virgo, they will most likely be buried underneath every book about the topics they are currently inspired by (at least the ones they could get their hands on).

Emily charges $106/hr for haircuts. All new clients must send a hair selfie and will automatically be booked for 90 minutes. Customized appointment times will be discussed at the end of your first time appointment.

Emily takes clients Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only. They are also certified in the American Wave and are currently accepting new clients for this service. Please note that Emily is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.

Ashley considers herself to a be a multi faceted hairstylist. She thrives in the editorial and formal styling world - but is also capable of giving you the avant-garde hair cut & color that you didn't know you needed. She graduated from the Aveda Institute in Denver, Colorado, and has worked closely with Aveda Advanced Academy's former Artistic Director, Jon Reyman. With several NYFW shows under her belt, some top names include: Oscar De La Renta, Betsey Johnson, and Reem Acra.

When she isn’t hanging around at X, Ashley loves traveling, vintage shops, vegetarian restaurants, and most importantly playing with her adorable son, Natas.

Ashley is currently only accepting returning clients & referrals.

Jaclyn (or Jackie, as her friends call her), graduated from The George Washington University, summa cum laude, with a dual degree in English and Speech and Hearing Science. She then continued on to obtain her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology, working as an SLP for 5 years. After much contemplating, she decided to take a creative career turn, enrolling in (and completing) cosmetology training at Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in Philadelphia.

Specializing in balayage and hair painting techniques, she is a detail oriented person who wants to create the most uniquely hand crafted haircut, color, and style for every single person who sits in her chair.

Jackie is a multidimensional individual who has a unique talent to make everyone around her feel joyful. Her outside interests include spending as much time as possible with her friends and family, while enjoying a great cup of coffee on the beach.

Adam's journey started by attending the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. After working several years in the salon, they returned to AIM, but this time as an educator. During this period, Adam split their time working as both a stylist and an educator.

Adam is passionate about mentoring, as well as sharing the belief that education is essential to developing a strong foundation. In 2017, Adam turned what started as a light hearted comment into reality. They relocated from Minneapolis to join the team at X.

Adam has trained with Aveda, The Kingly Hairgroup, and Allilon, which has majorly influenced their passion about working closely with clients, tailoring their approach based upon the individual. Adam enjoys creating short, structured haircuts, but ultimately thrives on the ability to bring out the client's personality.

Adam is fond of minimalism, bold architecture, and juxtaposition. When not taking clients at X, or teaching for EDU X, they enjoy traveling, coffee, and hanging with their cat (Totoro Catbus).

Hailing from Philadelphia, Lola is our newest stylist, having trained extensively with us over the past two years at X. They have a background in in the fine arts, having studied sculpture at Moore College of Art & Design. Lola’s passion for creativity and collaboration drew them to pursue a career in the hair industry.

When not at X, Lola enjoys reading, collecting house plants, and hanging with their dogs & cat.

Lola is now accepting haircut & color clients! They are currently offering a sliding scale for new hair color clients only.
